How Do Conspiracy Nutballs See Obama’s Plan For Afghanistan?

The Conspiracy theorists sect–like Grand Poobah Alex Jones–are coming out of the woodwork over  Obama’s announcement to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Their hook of uproar:

“Osama died at the end of December, 2001 in Pakistan and was buried there in an unmarked grave, according to Muslim tradition.”

Their  proof: 9/11 conspiracy guru David Ray Griffin (who they refer to as, “America’s leading scholar on 9/11″) and his book, Osama Bin Laden – Dead or Alive.

Hmmm, if Osama is dead, as the old joke goes, then why does he keep putting out more recordings than Tupac? (The dubious Bin Laden double-theory is the  easy answer to that question.)

On Jones’ InfoWar  (”Because there is a war on for your mind.”) site, one of his minion trumpets that the government is using the  search for Bin Laden as an excuse to invade Afghanistan, and also that the CIA and Blackwater are behind the recent bombing atrocity in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Alex Jones’ crew still ridiculously harps on how 9/11 was an inside job, seeing Obama speech at West Point as:

“The flip side of Bush, so much the Muppet whose words and mannerisms are manipulated.”

Though I too am frustrated with the extra $30 billion a year that will be spent on the war, I guess for conspiracy theorists nothing can be fixed along as it’s attached to “The Man”.

Osama Who...?

I don't think those troops are being deployed to find Osama bin Laden. If that were the intent, it would be much more productive to spend the money (and many fewer lives) on espionage. Very obviously, increased soldier presence in Afghanistan will reduce the chances of bin Laden being captured there. Does anyone really think he's sitting in a basement or cave somewhere, and that soldiers are knocking on doors/dunes trying to find him? "If we just had a few thousand more G.I. Joes there, we'd nab 'im for sure - and make him pay for 9/11!"

I had hoped that post-Bush USA would be more perceptive and less gullible.

It's not just conspiracy nuts who find these ungoing wars/occupations unacceptable, it's most of us who wanted to see the Nobel Peace Prize remain a respected and significant honour (rather than just a shiny coin awarded for "showing potential").
